Resto Shaman Haste Cap
« on: May 21, 2011, 09:45:44 AM »
Hello, to me, the resto shaman haste cap is wrong. You guys claim 12.5% is worth 916 Rating. 916 Rating is the cap for Earthliving Weapon including Wrath of Air (5% Haste).

Taking 128.125 Rating per 1% (http://www.wowpedia.org/Haste) :
916 / 128.125 = 7.15%

916 Rating would be 7.15%.

I made a small spreadsheet including all of the haste caps taken from this post you reference (http://www.mmo-champion.com/threads/852233-New-and-Improved-Resto-Shaman-Guide?p=10458834&viewfull=1#post10458834) :

The closest I can get to your "claimed" 12.5% would be the Non-WoA cap of ELW (1557 Rating, 12.15%).

Am I missing something here?

That 12.5% cap assumes you have all haste-related raid buffs. (Mr. Robot assumes you have all raid buffs)

The only haste raid buff (besides DI) is 5% Haste, putting it at 12.15% without WoA (with Mr Robot, like you say it would deduct it, back to 7.15% on gear).

That would still make your 12.5% wrong, no?

Ah, I see, I totally misunderstood the original question.  Going to have to let someone more knowledgeable answer this one.  I'm not a shammy guy.

My brain has totally fried.  I've been misreading too many thing around here lately...

916 with our woa totem, 1602 without, is a haste breakpoint (not a soft haste cap) for shammys until the next tic on our hots is achievable. I know elitist jerks also references 1% haste=128.125.

1602/128.125=12.503% so the 12.5% number is correct

Subtract the 5% from our totem or spriests leaves us with 7.5% haste need to reach our breakpoint.
7.5%*128.125=960 haste rating

So honestly not sure where the problem is but robot seems to not be the only one with the discrepancy. Reading through all responses to the resto thread on elitist jerks there are no posts challenging those numbers so they are likely correct just not sure how or why.

Mr. Robot uses the actual haste % that is necessary, 12.5%. 12.5% is the amount of haste you want for that extra tick. 916 is a number that I have seen posted on multiple forums... so we quote it for clarity since so many people are used to seeing that number. I honestly have never gone and checked it myself, so I will do so now:

The math would look like:
Haste on gear * haste buff = 12.5%

So, haste on gear = 12.5%/haste buff = 1.07143. 7.143%*128.125 = 915.18. So, you would indeed need 916 Haste Rating to achieve 12.5% with raid buffs.

Hope that clears it up.
