I have been using AMR for years now and decided some time back to subscribe to the site. Usually what I do is plug in the data and accept whatever the results maybe. It is only now that I thought of looking deeper into the results hoping to better understand the process and the take advantage of other features in the site. I have looked everywhere for answers to my questions. So I decided to post here. I have two questions.

  1. Very basic — Single target and multiple targets. In terms of BiB, I noticed the gears changes and so are the gems and enchants. Is this really important? Do I have to keep switching back and forth every fight? Or is this a hardcore thing?

  2. I was running the simulations and noticed that the one recommended by AMR with regards to dps score was lower than when I changed a ring. I thought the objective was to have the highest score. Is there more to it than that? If so, is that why I get that result?

It wouldn’t be practical to change your gems and enchants all the time for different fight types. But, it is easy to swap a few pieces of gear between fights. We are going to be updating the addon soon to save multiple sets of gear so you can swap easily.

I would lock in the gems and enchants for the fight type you care about most.

Regarding the best in bag suggestion simulating lower: I would have to see your specific case to say for sure what is going on. There is necessarily a margin of error for best in bag - it would not be possible to simulate every single combination of gear, so we have to use other techniques to provide an instant solution. We have some updates we are working on that should keep the error down to 1% or less. Right now it can be off by up to 2% in some cases.

Refining your gear choice beyond a 1% margin of error is not going to yield any noticeable gain in the game. Some people like to do it just for fun, and the simulation link helps you do that.

Thank you for your reply. That is useful to know. I would ask if you could check mine, but WoW did some major updates. There are new raids and new gears. So I thought I would delay this request until things settle down. But is it possible for you to look?

Not sure if I need to open a new topic. But can you please check this? I am getting lots of 880 lvl gears, but they do not seem good enough to replace 870s and even 850 in blood. Just want to confirm if I am doing things right.
