BiB says Mastery, Stat chart says Versa; who's right?

I’m confused. BiB says use mastery gems and enchants in available slots. But Stat Analysis says look for versatility stats. Why not apply versa gems and enchants as well?

There are a lot of different stat distributions that can give you optimal gear. The stat analysis shows you the trend for “most” of the setups better than yours. There are setups with different stat distributions which are good too.

If the gear currently available to you can’t fall into one of these higher versatility setups, the optimizer finds the best one that your gear can achieve. In this case it is a setup with a bit more mastery.

There isn’t just one way to gear that is good. That makes things complicated to explain, but it is generally good for you!

Wow. That is complicated.

What I hear you saying is, “In most cases, versatility is the best stat to stack. But given your current gear set, mastery is better.” Is that right??

While I appreciate AMR’s desire for accuracy, I anticipate buying some very expensive mastery gems and enchants only to be told, after picking up an armor upgrade or two, that I should swap all those out for some very expensive versatility gems and enchants. Is there a way to set up the optimizer to avoid such a switch?

There is the “Modification Threshold” option on the setup step. You can use that to avoid making small value changes that might cost a lot of gold.

Oh, just FYI, I did get a couple of gear upgrades before reading your reply and, sure enough, BiB is now telling me to stack versatility.
