Havoc DH BiB Ignoring Second Weapon

Here’s a weird one - and I can’t think of any reason it might be happening.

With my fresh-120 Havoc Demon Hunter, I made a pair of the 340 crafted 1H swords to get started with, and fairly soon got a 355 to replace the first one. Ever since then AMR has been ignoring the second sword (still equipped) and suggesting a weapon from Legion that’s in my bank.

I excluded that and optimised again, and it suggested something even lower. Excluded THAT and now it’s suggesting a ilvl 142 blue weapon over the 340 I have equipped!

Could AMR be thinking the 340 is “main hand only”? Because it’s not

Here’s my string:

The issue here is far simpler than you think: AMR ignores your second weapon because it does not have Agility on it. As Agility is your main stat you generally never want to use items (exluding rings and trinket of course) without it - at least, if the item level difference isn’t too high, i.e. something like 50 item levels.
Your current item level 340 Strength weapon should be comparable to a ~295 Agility weapon, according to AMR.

With that difference in mind, AMR just completely ignores weapons without your primary stat as including those would increase the required time and processing power by far too much, seeing as there is almost no reason why you’d use those weapons anyway.

Before getting your current main hand weapon you most likely didn’t have any relevant weapon (i.e. with Agility from BfA) at all, so AMR probably just kept whatever you had equipped to not waste ressources on pointless calculations.

Ah, well that WOULD explain it, heh.

It seems the default interface now hides inactive stats in the tooltip, I would have noticed otherwise - but yeah, I’ve made the assumption when crafting the swords that they’d switch primary stats depending on spec just like armor does. Not the first time I’ve made that mistake :-\

Thanks for picking up on that one. Sometimes the answer is the thing staring you right in the face
