I have read this post and still have a question.

My question is: AMR always lists the Shard of the Exodar as BIS. I have several other legendaries but AMR always ignores them. However, I assume AMR is factoring in the double haste bonus for this legendary. As I pug most raids, I usually don’t get to pop haste (other folks have the same ring). AMR doesn’t even list any of my other legendary pieces as being within 3% so that’s no help.

The Shard has a very high stat budget and the crit alone probably makes it worth wearing without the benefit of the special ability. However, I would like to sim that somehow and see if there is another option I hadn’t considered such as Magtheridon’s Banished Bracers (I have most of the frost legendaries now).

Any suggestions?

Please post the export from the addon, from WoW, so we can see what you’re seeing.

The ring is pretty much BiS for all 3 mages specs.

  1. Because of the stats, it has a high budget, like other legendary rings

  2. Because getting 1:20 seconds of lust on every fight is soo strong.

If you really don’t want to use the ring as a legendary (I highly recommend you do) then you could use the helm + bracers and if you have the 2pc/4pc combo you could use sephuz + bracers

Would you be able to answer some questions?

I don’t understand your wording in your post, are you saying that you don’t use lust twice? There’s no reason not to use lust twice if you have the ring.

You can see the Customize list beside/beneath BiB and it will show you the different combos you can choose from.

If I pop hero/lust I get no cool down debuff. If someone then uses hero after my hero runs out then I will get a second heroism.

Unfortunately if someone else uses hero/lust first then I get the debuff and my hero does nothing. So unless you coordinate in a raid and only if I’m the only one using the ring, there is no double hero for me.

Since I pug mostly I rarely get to hero first (so I won’t get the debuff) and normally there will be no one hitting hero a second time anyway.

In the end I rarely get the double hero so effectively I can only look at it for stats. Admittedly it has a lot of stats so it’s likely the best for me to use but I’m not sure

You misunderstand how the ring works.

It will still give you hero if you have the debuff. Always get someone else to lust first, then lust again when you have your cooldowns up.

Well damn I just tested that and realize you’re correct - could have sworn it worked differently when I first tested it. Well no wonder that ring is so damn good.
