Although WW monks can equip 2H weapons, they really shouldn’t because some of the spells become unusable that way.
WW monks should always equip 2 1H weapons.
The optimizer should always pick 1-handers for windwalkers. The only time it wouldn’t is if you just don’t have two 1-handers… if you have an example where it is choosing a 2-hander, please post your addon export string and we can take a look.

I have a 340 Honorbound Skullcleaver and a 340 Headcracker of Supplication in my bags, which up until recently was grabbed by AMR for my WW spec. Re-exporting with those two weapons equipped gives me a BiB with them in my weapon slots, but I go right back to the same issue if I export from BrM or MW (as neither can dual wield). Now that I mess with it, I notice that MW will give me different BiB whether I’m using a MH + OH when I export or if I’m using a 2hander.
On a possibly related note, could you check that export for my brewmaster weapon? If I set difficulty to heroic or above, it wants me to equip a 355 int staff over my 340 agi weapon. Even the tank sims don’t show this as a defensive upgrade so I’m not sure what’s going on.
I’ll take a look and add some code to deal with inappropriate weapons equipped on your specs when you export. In the meantime, you can avoid the issue by always equipping appropriate weapons after you change specs in-game.
@elfbane With respect to your weapon… for pure toughness the higher ilvl staff simulates to higher toughness when I test it… I’ll take a look and see if that’s really the expected result, but either way it’s going to be close probably.
