Issue with BiB and similar items or items used between specs

I have seen a couple issues with the BiB suggestions on items.

Issue one: I have Arms spec set as my top priority spec. BiB suggests Gale Force enchant for 360 ilvl Voror main-hand. When looking at BiB for lower priority Fury spec it wants me to swap 360 Voror to off-hand and change enchant to Mastery hence jacking with the suggestions for the higher priority spec.

Issue two: I have a 370 7th Legionnaire’s Headpiece equipped for my top priority Arms spec. I then received a different 370 7th Legionnaire’s Headpiece as a reward. I use BiB and it now suggested I swap out the headpiece for my lower priority Fury spec with my newly acquired 370 head piece. I copy my BiB code to in game addon and swap to my Fury spec using the addon swap button. Instead of equipping the new 370 head piece with no azeite traits selected it equips the one from my Arms spec and suggest an azeite reforge on the first trait from arms to fury trait. Instead I equip the new one and select the suggested traits then use ingame addon button to resave equipment set. This seemed to fix this issue after the traits were selected on the new piece. Similar gear issues it seems.

I can take a look… might need to tweak the code that determines which azerite piece to use when you have identical ones that don’t quite match the optimized result.

I have a similar issue with my DK… identical 7th Legion shoulder, but only the look modifier is different… 5125 vs 5126. I’ll add a data-string as an edit a bit later.

That would make them show up as unique items… so if best in bags wanted the one with ID 5125 for setup 1 and 5126 for setup 2, that is (in theory) what the addon would try to do as well, regardless of the azerite traits. Items with different bonus IDs are treated as unique/different items.

How in the name of all that’s Holy does AMR make any one of these Shoulder Armours more preferential than the others, when they basically all have exactly the same stat’s & Traits…? The only difference…? Two have look mod. 5125 & one has look mod. 5126…

I’ll look into the weapon enchant thing today.

As for the azerite items… still working through a few cases on that. It is quite tricky to deal with duplicate azerite items and matching up the optimized solution to what is in your bags. Probably what is happening is that it is looking for the azerite item in your inventory that requires the least changes from its current state to match the optimized result. In this case an additional check to consider removing/reforging a trait as more “different” than a blank trait would probably resolve the issue.

I have a couple other cases to look at as well – the main difficulty is that between optimizing your gear and importing it back into the game, we have no guarantee that your items will be in the same state that the website saw (or even where the items will be… maybe they were in your inventory when you exported, but now you have them equipped). So every time we want to swap an item in-game, it requires searching for the best-matching item… which also requires dealing with duplicate items, partially-chosen azerite traits, etc.

If you have multiple of the same azerite item, in the short term you can usually get around any issues by choosing the azerite powers that the optimizer recommends, then it should have a much easier time matching up the items when it swaps gear.

The shoulder item is still showing in bold, even though the item matches ilvl and traits. The only thing I see that is different is the Netherdrift enchant on the item.

Sometimes if you change azerite traits, you might need to close and open the addon UI to get it to update.

It’s possible that an enchant on a shoulder item might cause it to not show up as selected… would have to look into it. We typically don’t account for or worry about non-combat enchants.

@yellowfive, it’s been happening consistently, with many reloads and relogs. Indeed, I would assume the addon doesn’t account for many non-combat enchants, that’s why I’m still puzzled the addon shows the item in bold, where everything is the same (traits, ilvl, name, …) besides the enchant on it.
