Why is a 584 crit vers neck better than a 603 haste mastery for fury?

I’ll take a look… the main reason is that the optimizer for fury generally thinks that haste is not a very good stat, and that crit, mastery, and vers are all pretty good stats.
That said, this case seems a little bit extreme… haste shouldn’t be that bad, even if it’s worse than the other stats, so I’ll give it a review.
(I know a lot of the guides out there still say haste is the best stat and crit is the worst stat for fury… but they seem pretty out of date, still reference dragonflight, etc. I’ll give it a review though and see if any adjustments need to be made. They added a few talents in TWW that help improve the scaling of crit for fury, so I would suspect that people won’t be avoiding it on fury in the near future. Sometimes it takes a tier for people’s minds to change.)
I’ve been getting similarly crazy low ratings for haste as Fury. It makes sense to me that haste isn’t as good as stated elsewhere around the Internet, but my stat weights say it’s worth literally 1/10th of other secondaries (almost as if there’s a misplaced decimal somewhere).
FWIW (not much) in testing on target dummies, I did do more DPS with recommended gear than with haste gear… but haste has other benefits beyond flat DPS, so if it’s close, I’d want to err on the side of haste.

The generated stat weights are kind of their own thing… they never get used in the actual optimization, and they can sometimes go off the rails a little bit. I’m working on a different technique for creating them going forward that produces more stable values.
That said, I’m still looking into this. I can’t quite figure out why it is recommending so little haste in the Fury model… it should probably rank a bit higher as a stat than it is. I hope to have something new in the next couple of days.
We just posted an update with some improvements to the Fury optimization model. I think that it is giving much better results now – give it a try and see what you think.
