Best in bags recommending lvl 80 gear for lvl 75 (and engineering gear)

Best in bags is recommending lvl 80 gear for a lvl 75, and also engineering gear even though professions are set correctly. I remember this was a problem before. Here is the snapshot from one toon, but I’ve seen it on two so far. Thanks.

Any gear that has a tag of Season 1 has eluded the fact that Season 2 “shifted the goalposts” on what iL range “Requires L80” without cancelling the fact that S1 gear still exists for “later levellers”.

As for Dredger’s Goggles - I have zero idea other than there may be a pair in you Warbank & they’re BoE.

As always I’ll defer to @yellowfive on the last item - I know that he probably has little hair left over the former part… :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

I don’t really know how blizzard determines the required player level for some items. They provide a value via bonus IDs… but then they ignore it and require level 80 for some gear.

For example, your Arathi Claymore of the Feverflare, Blizzard explicitly attaches a bonus ID to that item that says it requires player level 71 to equip. But… then they ignore it via some unknown rule.

I had a rule in place that was a best guess… but it was requiring level 80 for some items that did not require it. So I changed it… and now we have the opposite issue for some items.

Bottom line – I don’t know what hidden rule Blizzard is using. I’m going to leave it how it is because it is generally better to err on the side of allowing a few items through that can’t be equipped – you can exclude those specific items until you reach a higher level.

Hopefully Blizzard stops doing this at some point… and when they provide a required level it… is actually… the required level?

As for the goggles, we aren’t checking professions for gear in The War Within because there are very few items with a restriction, and none that are end-game relevant (and it is also very rare that a person owns an item restricted to a profession that they do not have, so the case almost never comes up). We could add a check for these few rare cases though.

No problem. I was just using a bunch of lower alts for the time walking event.
