BiB vs Parse % on WCL

Hello, first off i want to send my respect of all the improvements you guys made, i really like the intuitive design of AMR.
So now to my first world “problem”.
I play different as most of other players. I am creating macros and weak auras and Using SIm craft instead of guides.
ASK is pushing my Item level for view % of DPS increase.
Then i need to listen to the “experts” on TS or Discord that i need to get better…they want 80% parses at least.
So i am picking the items by my own to get really good parses, with only little DPS sacrifice (i know its stupid…but this way i can play like i want).
But choising from dozens of items tooks way to many time.
So i am asking you guys if it would be possible some time to choice a option “good parse”

I wish you all the best, keep care of you!

Using the BiB result and playing optimally will do that already, however there is more to a top parse than that.

At this point the top results are from players who’ve got a lot of gear to choose from as well as being lucky with corruption and sockets, on top of that there are quite a few groups which will choose someone to parse well. That player will get to ignore most mechanics and just tunnel the boss.
A high parse also requires the rest of the group to do well too as a shorter fight will, normally, equate to a better result as a larger percentage of the fight will be under heroism/bloodlust. The optimal fight length will be just long enough for two major DPS CD too.

Having said that 80% for ilvl shouldn’t be too hard to get, if you’re struggling analysing a log will be more useful than trying to choose specific gear.
You haven’t even mentioned which class and spec you’re playing.

Hello & thanks for your answer! I am playing Balance duid - and i have several 90+% parses and usualy doing 3-5k more DPS with self selecetd items in NHC & HC. But you are right. There is a lot of things that need to match, for a good parse. But when i listening to AMR my parse always gets a lot lower.

We’d need to see your setup to have any chance of working out why.
Next to Best in Bags there’s a Help link, click that and then Create support post.

Copy and paste the string of letters/numbers it gives here and people here can look into why that might happen.

Let us know what you change from the BiB result and which fights you’re referring to, a WCL link might help too.

I just remember last x-pack my parses turns lower when following the suggest gear, so i didn’t used it in Raids atm.
Next week i will follow the suggest gear and maybe upload all you need. I would be happy if i am wrong / something changed.
But i don’t want to talk about my suboptimal rotation.
I just asked for a feature. As i wrote i play different, with good results (imo). Here are three images. You see that AMR Gear will increase my DPS by 0,35%, but my item level goes up by 9. I think i don’t need to test it. But I will do next week.
The image shows my parses for my specific item level on nhc & HC.
I started to raid really late, so i am not the best on mechanics. These parses was made all with self picked gear

I forgot to post the strings ^^
Here is the AMR export (ingame) :

AOE 4 Targets practice with self picked Gear

All of those simulations are so close that it doesn’t really matter what gear you pick. Using a target dummy to test DPS is anecdotal. This is why we have simulations, because it’s impossible for a player to do 10,000 pulls.

As for a “good parse” option, that isn’t going to happen because it’s not something you want to shoot for. If you’re a serious player you should be looking at consistent DPS not high parse DPS. High parses are sporadic at best, you’d need to pick a lot of super high RNG gear and hope to RNG gods for good procs.

Having a high parse also could be an indicator of ignoring mechanics or not focusing the right targets, AKA tunneling.

I’m not saying you do these things, but there’s a lot more to focus on then getting high parses, especially at the normal or heroic level.

You are right. Dummy tests doesn’t matter. I did it because i was asked to post some Raid logs. I think in raids more things can effect on you’re DPS, so i did choice´d the dummy’s.
Anyway. The simulations are close, the item level isn’t.
And of course, i don’t ignore raid mechanics. As i wrote above, i just want my soul peace after the raid (where the smart guys look at the parse and want you to do more DPS, because of the parse). I would be happy if only the boss kill / try counts, but it isn’t so.
With self picked gear i just get way better parse, i mean look on the first image.
And one more time, i really appreciate the work the people put in into AMR. I really like to use it. It’s just an ask for a feature.

Sorry for the double post. If the “parse feature” isn’t possible, then there is still a behavior I don’t understand. For instance the first picture, or below (tank gear - twisted claws & gory regeneration available, but AMR has chosen Dawning Sun, without balance affinity)

Nobody can use that export string except you.

If you want us to see what the optimizer chose for you, use the help link and generate a snapshot id and post that for us.

Oh, my bad, sorry.
So here is the snapshot ID (now everything changed again…got some more gear, balance druid.)

Here my self picked gear

https://www.raidbots.com/simbot/report/ftcXPwtDWEAfTntwS2YqXZ

And here the SIM for the gear choice of AMR

https://www.raidbots.com/simbot/report/bERW4HPJ52GKdUCfiy3q6W

According to AMR the gear swap should bring +7.7% more DPS but its over -7% less DPS than my self picked gear.

You are doing simulations with no buffs or consumables and a 90% uptime on symbiotic presence. We assume about 60% for optimization purposes on that minor. Here is the comparable comparison using the AMR simulator:

Here is the gear you have equipped/picked yourself:
63,483 DPS

Here is what BiB recommends:
65,539 DPS

I’m not sure why the simulations using SimC are giving different results in this case - it would take quite a bit of time to set up a true 1:1 comparison between the two simulators and analyze every single thing going on. Our model of the game and simc’s model of the game don’t always agree exactly. There have not been any large changes to balance anytime recently, so I’m still confident in our model of the spec.

Even re-running the sims on a target dummy (patchwerk) with no buffs on our simulator, I’m still seeing BiB as significantly better than your chosen setup according to our data.

Thanks for your answer! These sims look way better  The only reason i SIM myself is that I don’t understand the decisions of AMR sometimes. For instance the image I posted above. AMR don’t want me to use streaking stars. But all top players using 3/3.
So I am not a top player…maybe AMR knows that ^^
But that reminds me of another thing I was thinking of.
Would it be possible to implement a personal Warcraft Log Combat Analyze feature?
So that AMR can choice gear according to my own play style ?
They are a lot of people out there that are using one-two button macros to play wow (handicapped or lazy people)

You can use the customize feature to tailor the optimizer to your own play style.

For us to automatically adjust to your personal play style would be a huge undertaking, which might not even end up working, unfortunately. We added the customize options so people can adjust the optimizer to their preferences.
