It even shows the 272 has a higher score on the list. I’m curious if its due to a setting somewhere but I can’t figure out why.

I think this is just one of those odd edge cases… the two rings are very close to each other in score. That per-slot ranking isn’t factoring in that the gem and enchant are locked in for your windwalker spec, and thus you lose a little value because it wants to put on crit+vers modifications for brewmaster rather than use the haste+mastery mods reserved for windwalker.
In the end I don’t think you would be able to tell which ring is better in-game. You could exclude the lower item level ring if you would prefer to use the higher item level ring. Your overall score will go down by like 0.1%, but that is so small it is anyone’s guess whether that would matter in-game.
Rings and necklaces can be a bit weird because they don’t have primary stat and thus are much more sensitive to which stats are on them instead of item level.
