Bonus Roll not recognizing that I already have a set piece?

Hi, I’m not sure if this is intentional. I use the Best In Bags feature and then the Upgrade Finder as expected because it seems that Upgrade Finder is supposed to take into account the fact that I might have certain items in my bag and not use them as upgrade options since I already have them.

In my case, I have the cloak of the dashing scoundrel which is a tier item for my outlaw rogue. But when I do a Bonus Roll Upgrade search, it still shows that item as a 3% upgrade for my gear, which only makes sense if that were my second tier item (other upgrades like pants, chest, etc. also have a ~3% upgrade despite the lower item level).

So is Bonus Roll supposed to be smart enough to know that I already have the tier cloak and therefore should not recommend it as an upgrade to fish for? (I have already checked to see if the cloak that AMR recommends is somehow warforged or socketed, but it appears to be the exact same ilvl: 915 from LFR).

My current export string is:

Hopefully that helps, thanks!

edit - When I switch from Bonus Roll to upgrade from all items, it actually lists the cloak as my #1 upgrade even though I already have it, so it shouldn’t be able to complete the set bonus?

So this is usually because instead of having unique item IDs for each version of an item, Blizzard uses “bonus IDs” that modify a base item. So in this case, 152161 is the item ID for the Cloak of the Dashing Scoundrel. The one in your bags has the bonus ids (which you can see at the bottom of the item tooltip) 1457, 3528, and 3613, while the one upgrade finder thinks drops from lfr has 1457 and 3564. 1457 seems to be the bonus ID that tells the game that it’s the LFR version of the piece, but for reasons I don’t understand, the other IDs are different (even though the pieces are as far as you or I can tell, identical).

So AMR looks and sees that the bonus IDs are different i guess, which is a very efficient way of identifying unique items, and doesn’t know that you have an equivalent item. This doesn’t really answer your question completely, but hopefully it help explain what’s happening, if not what to do about it.

Do you have the "set bonus lookahead option turned on? That will estimate the item as if you had completed the next bonus in the upgrade finder.

When I run it without that on, I see the expected results – the LFR version is only an upgrade if it is warforged.

The set bonus lookahead option is turned off by default now because it is a bit harder to explain how it works, and it has to do some guessing/estimating. I was going to come up with a better way to handle it… but there is talk of set bonuses not being a “thing” in BfA… so might just stick with the current system, even though it’s not perfect.
