I noticed a bug in your optimizer regarding the Darkmoon Sigil: Symbiosis enchantment. In your tool it shows Symbiosis granting 40,000 Versatility, but in-game it only procs 146 Versatility for 20 seconds (stackable up to 5 times for a maximum of 730 Versatility). This misleading display had me convinced I’d need to re-farm nine Mythic+ dungeons worth of Golden Sigils to remake my two-hand weapon.
Luckily, I did not have to recraft the entire weapon or grind for more Sigils—I simply swapped the Darkmoon Sigil embellishment, replacing Symbiosis with Darkmoon Sigil: Ascension (Sublimation), and everything worked perfectly.
That said, the 40,000 Versatility readout remains confusing and could lead other Death Knights or tank players to mistakenly redo their craft and materials. I’m posting this to alert you to the issue in your interface/coding so others won’t fall into the same trap.
Please take a look and correct it as soon as possible—thanks for your help!
Thanks for the post, we’ll take a look – our optimizer is using the correct value when ranking gear (otherwise that item would be off the charts), this is only a display problem on the tooltip. Blizzard just can’t get it together on these embellishments… they keep changing the scaling method back and forth without actually changing anything about the item.
(I wrote an article about this a while back… symbiosis was actually fine how they had it, seems like they changed it to be “wrong” again… if you are interested it is here: Crafted Gear in The War Within | Ask Mr. Robot, and if you read the article, blizzard never did make any improvements to the embellishments such as the ones we suggested)
Thanks for clarifying that the optimizer is using the correct 146 Versatility value under the hood – that’s a relief! I’ll read your “Crafted Gear in The War Within” article to get the full background.
It would be great if you could update the tooltip display soon, since it’s confusing a lot of players (myself included). Let me know if there’s any additional information I can provide to help pinpoint the display bug.
We posted a site update today that should resolve this issue.
As expected… blizzard just randomly flipped how they were scaling the number on that special effect tooltip. It’s very irritating how inconsistent they are with these things… they changed it to use a method that in our opinion is just wrong. That number now scales with the item level of the item to which it is attached, but… it is capped at item level 80 which, suspiciously, is max player level… thus leading us to believe that this is a clear misunderstanding by whoever is in charge of maintaining these effects.
We think that this is clearly the wrong way to handle these tooltips… and there was no reason to change it in the first place… but whatever, blizzard will do what they do.
Thanks for rolling out the update so quickly! I’ve just checked and the tooltip now shows the correct Versatility value across different item levels. Much appreciated. I’ll let you know if anything else crops up.
