How does a user change the Gearing Strategy from Healing on a priest? I am gearing as a Smite DPS, as it out performs shadow in TBC, but I can only choose Healing.

I don’t have anything in the calculations for a smite priest right now - no one asked for it last time around! I can add calculations for it to the model, it’s not hard to calculate.
I’ll let you know when we post it. You will choose shadow as your spec, but then change the talents to whatever you are using and the calculations will adapt. There is no concept of a “spec” in tbc, we use them because the site is built on top of the retail site. Choosing “shadow” is telling the optimizer: I want to do damage. It will run the code that maximizes damage with your current talents.

As Swol mentioned, choose Shadow as your spec if you want to optimize for damage as a priest. Then just modify your talents to whatever you want to use, doesn’t have to be Shadow talents.
