Confused about BiB gearing strategy (Ret Paladin)

AMR started recommending crit rating over everything else towards the end of season 1, and I am not sure why. I know it is not a hard and fast rule (and I am no expert), but mastery in single target scenarios for ret paladins is usually a solid number one pick, but AMR wants me to swap a lot of mastery and turn it into crit, and I don’t have a ton of mastery as it is. This would be more acceptable for a mythic+ build, but it is asking me to do this for a single target build as well.

You can see below that it is favoring crit significantly over mastery
Am I missing something?

Thank you for your time.

( Pawn: v1: “Trejo - ST”: Class=Paladin, Spec=Retribution, Strength=16.32, MaxDamage=12.27, MinDamage=12.27, CritRating=17.00, MasteryRating=14.83, Versatility=11.75, HasteRating=11.48, MovementSpeed=0.03, Avoidance=0.02, Indestructible=0.01, Leech=0.01 )

I’ll take a look – usually a pretty equal amount of crit/mastery tends to get the best results for retribution at higher gear levels.

We also have a round of tweaks for the new trinkets in season 2 that might impact things a little.

Thank you, Yellowfive. I appreciate your time.

We posted an update last night with a few tweaks – it needed some adjustments for the overall higher stats that people have compared to season 1. It should be getting a better balance of crit/mastery in most cases now, and not favoring direct-damage trinket effects as much (it was a little high, that is one of the trickier things to adjust with each patch).
