I’m really confused why the optimizer is selecting the Eternal Egg Trinket (Champion 6/6) over a Radiant Plume (Champion 6/6). Radiant Plume is considered ia top tier trinket for feral druid on almost every site that ranks trinkets and Egg is towards the bottom or even non-existent on almost every list available. They have the same agility, one has mastery while the other has the chance to proc haste. This particular Eternal Egg trinket does have Leech on it but I’m shocked if that 45 leech is enough to move it to the top of the list. Can you explain how the egg bumps out a top tier trinket in your analyzer? Raidbots does not recommend this change.
If I look at the current ranking for the Eternal Egg on e.g. bloodmallet, it appears that simulationcraft (aka raidbots aka bloodmallet aka wowhead/icy veins) are assuming it will never give you any haste at all – that seems overlay pessimistic to me. I assumed that as a damage spec you would get the haste almost every proc because you wouldn’t take enough damage in 6 seconds to break the shield (which only absorbs 25% of incoming damage, so will go further than it seems).
The average amount of mastery that the radiant plume will give you over a fight will be almost the same as the average amount of haste that the eternal egg will give you over a fight – the egg has reasonably high uptime so it’s not a big or spiky proc, and thus one can do a ballpark estimate using an average value.
So you have to ask yourself: does it make sense for two trinkets that give roughly the same amount of stats – but one gives haste and the other gives mastery – to rank that much differently for a feral druid? Not really. They ought to rank nearly the same.
That said, if you find that the shield is breaking on you often in-game, you can use the customization tab → special items section on our site to reduce the value of the eternal egg – e.g. if you notice that half the time you aren’t getting the haste buff, enter 0.5 in the box for that trinket.
