This trinket is showing insane damage for both single target and AoE. Everywhere I can see, this trinket is regarded as being almost just bad (QELive for instance puts it dead last.) Are people just sleeping on a possible crazy trinket, or is there something up with AMR?
That value is probably too high for a holy paladin, we’ll take a look.
edit: We’ll take a look, but it might not be as high as I thought… ranking direct damage effects depends a lot on how much damage you estimate a holy paladin will do: the more damage you do, the worse a direct damage trinket gets, and vice versa.
Looking at some top-ranked M+ and raid logs, our damage estimate looks more or less in the right ballpark… that said, we are reviewing all of our healer code and updating a lot of the customization options in the next two weeks, so we’ll also make sure all trinket rankings are reviewed when we do that as well.
We have almost finished our revamp of the healer code, so we’ll adjust some of the trinkets as the last step in that process.
Out of curiosity – what kind of DPS numbers do you usually put up in a raid? I’d like to compare that to the estimate we’re using for that trinket’s value.
edit: also keep in mind that for the raid strategy we’re considering a primarily single-target fight for damage purposes.
I parse in the 99% range, so I can attest that the stats definitely work lol. It can go from 300k to 500k or so depending on the fight. Top 12 Pal based on all star points for heroic.
If you wanna view some of my numbers here’s my profile:
Thanks – direct damage effects like this, the most important thing is getting a DPS estimate that is roughly the same magnitude as people are getting in game on real fights. For example the direct damage effect on the High Speaker’s Accretion that you have should do around 15,000 DPS with your current stats (this assumes the damage can crit and is affected by versatility, which as far as I can tell from spell data is true).
So if we are estimating 300k DPS for you without the trinket, the direct damage portion would be about a 5% DPS gain, whereas if we are estimating 500k DPS, it would only be a 3% DPS gain.
Next week we’ll be comparing healer DPS to some more log data to make final adjustments and it should clear up the trinket rankings for direct damage effects. These are always a bit of a pain even for DPS specs because theoretical damage output is never exactly the same as real fight damage output, so a bit of empirical adjustment is needed to make these types of effects rank well.
(For this reason, I think that direct damage effects are often undervalued slightly for DPS specs because simulation results tend to have very high damage values compared to what happens in real fights.)
That all said, I agree with you that its current estimate looks high because the stat on it (Mastery) is not good for damage. Though the triggered effect also gives intellect which helps out a tad.
Either way, this will be a good test case for review next week.
