Kil'jaeden's Burning Wish does not function at 116 or above

BiB Is still recommending Kil’jaeden’s Burning Wish for me. (BM Hunter). However at iLvl 274 I get a message I am at too high a level for the spell to function. Checking the Item it states that the item will only work at level 115 or below.

Without knowing your addon string, I can only guess that you are not 120 yet (or recently got to 120) and that the stats alone on that trinket is better then the alternatives you got.

To give you a more exact answer to why, please share the addon string you paste into the website.

My add-on string is below. I am level 120 with an iLvl of 283. I drop to 282 if I use KBW

Thanks for the reply.

I ran some single simulations:

With Over-Engineered Flash Bulb, 6592 DPS: Not Available

With Kil’jaeden’s Burning Wish, 6532 DPS: Not Available

So Over-Engineered does less then 1% more DPS then Kil’jaeden with my simple testing. The stats alone on Kil’jeaden is really good. But Over-Engineered is still better to my understanding in this particular gear setup.

The devs maybe have some more answers to this.

When you get to lower item levels and lower-level gear (like the early quest reward trinkets), we just don’t run as much data – it’s not really worth the effort because people just blow past it and get better gear in a couple hours of play. For this reason there might be a slightly larger difference between the optimizer’s model and the direct simulations the further you go from end-game relevant gear levels.

But honestly… for the activities you will probably be doing at those low gear levels (like questing and stuff) most of the simulation models will be significantly different from what you are actually doing in-game anyway. So worrying about a 1% or 2% difference in raid-simulated DPS when you are mainly doing leveling content is… not something you should worry about!

Even so, this difference is really small – sets of gear that simulate to 1% or 2% difference at these low item levels isn’t a big deal. If you prefer the quest trinket, just use it… they are close enough that you won’t feel it in-game.
