Were you aware that the Nightfall gear has been “edited” to Season 3 item levels, with the addition of Adventurer path upgradeability…??
Base level for vendor available gear is iL655… I’l grab a screen shot from the vendor list tomorrow (* as of posting this).
I did miss that – if you have any info on it let me know, otherwise today I’ll poke around and do my best to determine the ilvls of available nightfall gear.
I posted an update that adds 668 veteran nightfall rewards (which from what I saw are available from the weekly quest). We could also add some adventurer level rewards… but those very quickly become uninteresting.
Some of my L80’s can still ‘get mileage’ out of Adventurer path items, as may fresher L80;s - never say never. 
For sure, the adventurer gear can be a good way to gear up quickly – if you can get a quick ilvl upgrade it can be worth doing those activities in your down time.
