Phial of the Arcane Tempest for BM hunter?

My question is: As a BM hunter, AMR’s BiB keeps recommending the Phial of the Arcane Tempest as an upgrade for me. It wasn’t until after I equipped it I find it only procs when I’m within 8 yards of my target, which is essentially going to make me stand in melee range, which I doubt my raid team will appreciate. I guess I’m not sure if I understand the BiB recommendation as a result. Am I missing something about how the trinket works or should I be trying to go ahead and stand in melee range?

(EDIT: I went ahead and put the trinket as locked out for now on AMR until I understand more)

For stuff like that, we go ahead and rank it for you as if you are doing what would be necessary to make use of it. I think it makes sense that you would not want to use that item, so black-listing it seems reasonable. We have the ranking there so that people know the potential of each item, even if that potential may be impractical or annoying to achieve.

I appreciate your response! I can understand the logic, although I admit I was frustrated I trusted AMR blindly and told my raid the trinket would be an upgrade and a DH traded it to me. Lesson learned. I appreciate the AMR site no question, but can’t trust anyone blindly. I shoulda done some more research first.
