Hello
I was just wondering that community seems to like the Tome of Light’s Devotion trinket quite a bit for tanks, most likely because of the damage it does to singletarget. AMR seems to value it quite low in general and i wonder if this is because community is basically skipping half the usage of it to just get the crit buff almost permanently and always switching away from the other buff when able and amr uses both buffs which drops its value significantly?
Right now we split it evenly between the defensive and offensive buff.
It is not surprising that the community tries to make it as offensive as possible – we can change our estimate to treat it as such if that is how people prefer to use this trinket.
That said, I don’t think you could get the crit buff “permanently”… unless you aren’t getting hit very much. Our optimizations always assume that you are taking consistent damage as a tank. Though I have not tested whether dodged/parried/absorbed attacks increase the count on this trinket – that could increase the duration of the current verse.
Yeah it seems defensive buff is not seen as very valuable so people start with it in the offensive buff and then just use trinket as soon as it switches to the defensive buff which means you will spend most of a dungeon or a raid fight with the offensive buff. Looking at logs for dungeons it seems to be 85/15 split for the offensive buff. In raidfights im seeing 100/0 split for offensive.
