Looking at the crafted headpiece “Glyph-Etched Guise”, for some reason if I use “Quick Rank” and set crafted to 645 max level 5 (658) with dawn thread, it won’t show 658 crafted as upgrade. It shows as -1.46% downgrade. I have “Set Bonus Prediction” selected on quick rank. I can see other 658 gear fine, almost like it’s not compensating for the “Greater Void Ritual” or set piece, however I do have 658 set piece in my bags.
However if I use “Add to my bag” and add 658 “Glyph-Etched Guise” it shows 1.98% upgrade.
I have “Greater Void Ritual” selected for BiB, even trying to choose max enchants/gems shows same result. Am I missing something to select?
Thanks for the report, we’ll take a look.
While the two rankings can sometimes give slightly different results, the difference should be very small (fractions of a percent). There must be something unusual going on in this case causing the discrepancy.
So the issue in this case is the set bonus… technically, things are working as they should.
The Quick Rank method has been around for a long time on our site (over a decade). It is a simpler ranking method that more or less takes the item in question, swaps it into your current gear, and scores it. (It is a bit more complicated than that, especially with difficult cases like caster weapons… but that’s the gist of it.)
The benefit of this approach is that it is easy to understand and fast. The downside is cases like this one: when swapping in an item would break a set bonus, most items in that slot will rank very poorly.
The other, newer searches (everything except Quick Rank) use a much slower but more thorough ranking method. They will actually try many combinations of your existing gear with the item in question. In this case, it is able to try different set item combinations to come up with a better score.
That said… I’d like to try adding some extra handling of set items to the Quick Rank without slowing it down too much. For example in this case, try some simple swaps of set items that you already own into other slots. This will not guarantee the exact same result as “add to my bag” – in some cases it will still rank slightly worse in Quick Rank because it will not examine nearly as many combinations as “Add to my bag” – but it should be much closer.
It might take me a few days to write the code and test it, make sure it doesn’t lead to any unexpected slowdown or issues.
Note that the “set bonus prediction” option is a little different. That only comes into play when ranking a set item in the list. It is for the case where you don’t already own the full set, but want to rank set items as if you were going to obtain the full set eventually.

Thanks for looking into this. I went ahead and had 658 Glyph Etched Guise headpiece crafted with dawn thread, it’s pretty close to “Quick Rank”.

We just published an update that should make Quick Rank handle slots where you would break a set bonus a little better. It is still not as comprehensive as the other searches that try a lot more combinations, but it should give a better score if you own another good set item for a different slot and can keep the bonus active.
Let us know if you run into any issues with this change.
