So the enchant locking suggestions seem to be behaving way better. But I still sometimes get this thing where I see a potential upgrade from what I know of the game and experience. I’ll then click a slot for the drop-down, and AMR agrees with that. It is so confusing, if AMR sees it as a green % upgrade why is it not automatically being slotted in? Like in this example even in the current setup with enchants it is just swapping a few rings around, and looking at my stat distribution currently, it wouldn’t be surprising, so I click the ring section, and it shows the one that I thought as a potential for higher dps as a dps upgrade. I have no clue why it would not go ahead and put that into the best slot for that ring.
I understand why this would be a bit confusing – it seems like at the very least the optimizer should start from your current gear and look for easy swaps to improve score. And we actually do that!
The problem though… is that your current gear is invalid according to your options. You have specified None for on-use trinkets, but you have an on-use trinket equipped.
There is no way to create a set of gear that obeys your current settings and scores better than your currently equipped gear. (You would have to swap in the ceaseless swarmgland for the mercurial egg, which scores slightly worse.)
In cases like this we choose to leave your current gear as-is rather than show you the “valid” but lower-scoring solution. We cannot optimize your current gear further though because any higher-scoring solution is invalid, and the optimizer will never inspect invalid combinations.
Now I could see some debate on whether the mercurial egg really “counts” as an on-use trinket. One could theoretically get away with never using it, nor does it trigger the shared lockout of most on-use trinkets. I think the easiest thing in this case might be to make that specific trinket not count against the on-use limitation.
So it is not changing the ring due to the fact of the trinket I have equipped and with that trinket equipped that is the best gear?
It was not changing the ring because there is no valid solution (a solution with zero on-use trinkets) that scores better than your currently-equipped gear.
Changing the ring would be a better-scoring solution with one on-use trinket, but you have asked the optimizer to find solutions with zero on-use trinkets.
