Simulation Find Best in Bags and Quick Rank Not Suggesting Main Hand Upgrades

The simulation is not suggesting any new Main Hand upgrades for my Protection Warrior. It continues to recommend the Main Hand I crafted in Season 1 as the best option.

I’ve noticed the same issue with Quick Rank as well. This happens regardless of whether I select Raid or Mythic+ as the gear source.

Have you got it ‘coupled’ to a Darkmoon Dominion Trinket, even an upgraded one…??

I’ll take a look, I think the Hunt embellishment might be ranking way too high. Blizzard loves to change around how those embellishment effects scale at random, so it’s possible it was changed in one of the recent builds.

Also, you have a custom secondary stat target specified on the Customize tab. While that is a fun customization feature… by its nature it can make the Upgrade Finder less useful. We generally recommend only using that feature if you want to do something very different than the optimizer wants to do.

In your case, you can get a very similar result by disabling the custom secondary stat target and setting your strategy to “Mostly DPS” instead of “Mostly TUF” – that gives a very similar optimization to your current one, but using the optimizer’s native calculations and logic rather than forcing an override. As long as that gets you what you are looking for it will generally behave better across all of the site’s features.

You also don’t need the “force tier set” option enabled with the above suggested settings, the optimizer will choose the set naturally.

You’re absolutely right. I was doing some tests to figure out why the weapon wouldn’t change, but even after putting everything back the way it should be, it still stays on the same weapon. What am I doing wrong?

Tomorrow I’ll take a look at the embellishment that you have on the weapon – I think it’s ranking too high. My best guess is that it’s pulling the wrong scaling value from the spell data, but I’ll have a better idea tomorrow when I can dig into it.

Yeah the issue was what I expected, the optimizer was getting the wrong value for that embellishment (I don’t know why Blizzard uses this bizarre scaling for a couple of the embellishments… it looks like a bug to me, but that’s how they want to do it…).

We have a site update going out probably later today, or tomorrow at the latest, that will address this issue. The rankings will be correct after that update.

We just posted a website update that should resolve this issue. The next time you refresh the page and optimize you will see the updated ranking.
