Stat ratios horribly wrong

Both of my toons’ stat ratios are horribly wrong. I hope this is user error… .Please help.

Deadloque-Stormrage is a 900ish Afflock with only 9,046 out of his target 12,600 Mastery (and over budget in Crit and Haste). If you know afflocks, this destroys our UA hits. Mastery should be roughly 120% or more. I’m at 97%.

Deadruidina-Stormrage is a 900ish Guardian with only 6K versatility out of her target 15K. This is no good.

I re-ran 3 different versions of Spellblade last night, each starting with Best In Bags from each of my current sims (Mythic, Krosus, Spellblade). While they each have similar stat goals, running BIB is marching in crazy directions. I’m targeting 1K haste and the strat is taking up up to 10K… and dropping my vers even further… to.

How should I be using AMR to land at better itemization ratios?

The way I’ve been using it is roughly:
Run custom gearing strats for 870-920, one each for mythic, krosus, spellblade. (I swap talents and gear depending on the fight, especially with the warlock).

in-game in i use pawn when i’m lazy, but i tab-out to AMR best in bags frequently to check all 3 specs for upgrades. I save gear above 860 or so unless it is a clear downgrade (wrong stats, same item/lower level, etc.).

I run a ton of M+, fair amount of LFR, and N/H NH weekly, and am 3/10 Mythic for a few weeks now.

What should I be doing differently? Should I be overriding Best In Bags and stacking the missing stat until i get closer to the right numbers? e.g: stack my lock’s mastery and my druid’s vers?

My lock can get to 130% or so mastery, but drops to like ilevel 830 LOL.

What next? thanks!

I would have to see some more information to answer this question.

What are you basing your desired stat ratios on? The custom gearing strategies you made? If you could link those custom gearing strategies as well as an export from the addon, we could then try out your BiB and see what it is doing.

yes, stat ratio from custom strats. Sorry, here we go.
And yeah, pretty sure this is me failing to understand something, so don’t discount the “no duh” explanation

Krosus Gearing Strat: Not Available
Even Best in Slot only hits 10K vers, so where is gearing strat targeting 15K from?

Wonky results all producing strange results with super low item levels. Not sure I trust 'em?
3 different spellblade strats, each starting from BIB gear from previous Mythic strat (M5), Krosus (K5), Spellblade (S5).
M5: Not Available
K5: Not Available
S5: Not Available

They produce BIB recos that are super low iLevel and reducing vers dramatically while hording crit. What gives?
They also produce fairly really BIB recos. Noob question: should BIB be basically the same for a given character’s available gear in bags, regardless of what is currently equipped? Why are these strats making such different suggestions based on the gear they started with?

FWIW, based on recommendation from yesterday, ran those strats with Mythic set to +8, otherwise full food/pot/rune and level 870-920. Should be the right settings, but LMK if I’m the dunce here.

For Deadloque, been using AMR much longer, and much more surprised, as I know locks can get to 120-130% mastery. I’m under 100% following AMR guidance along the way, for all 3 spec/strats.

Krosus: Not Available
again, low on key mastery (should be 12,800, sitting at 9,100), and even BIS calc only gets to 10,265 (107%). Pretty sure it is commonly known locks need to be at 120% mastery, but maybe that’s my mistake there, from the simC world and other locks kicking my butt and pointing at me and saying go fix your mastery… I have a raid buddy that has UAs that hit regular for harder than my Crits… He’s a tad higher iLevel, but that is absurd (right)? And mastery, right?

OK, how am I being a dummy? why is this so out of whack? thanks!

Shot in the dark but are you using a pawn string that is normalized by chance? That would cause some real problems in weighting since there is a tooltip that explains not to use normalized values.

The stat goals shown on the machine learning report are the goals for a “perfect world” in which you had no limitation on what stats you could put on your gear. There are many different allocations of stats that will get very close to optimal DPS as well.

In your case for the affliction - the only way to get more mastery with the gear you have would be to reduce your item level and sacrifice other stats to the point that it would not be a DPS gain. If you were to get comparable item level items to your current gear that have more mastery, they would likely be preferred.

The gearing strategy is “smart” in that it maximizes your DPS with the gear available to it - it doesn’t blindly adhere to some sort of stat ratio. We’re working on an update to the display of these gearing strategies to make that less confusing.

For the tanking - that is trickier. Lower item level items being suggested is usually because you out-gear the content you simulated for. And, while 15k vers might be ideal, it’s also not really achievable, so the gearing strategy picks one of the other stat allocations that is good for the gear you have available.

We’re working on a way to smooth out the tank gear suggestions to avoid the lower item level gear suggestions. The problem is that… once you aren’t dying at all on a fight - the stats you pick don’t matter really, so everything falls within margin of error and things get weird.

Thanks for the replies.
No, i’m not using normalized pawn strings, (I am manually typing them into pawn, which i wish we could just import… for another day), but either way, I am ultimately using AMR BIB very frequently. I just use Pawn in-game as a rough guide b/c it is easy and fast and “no duh” big green arrow is good.
