Hello I am level 64 and when I run upgrade finder it is showing me weapons and items clearly made for casters. its best recommendation for my Epoch-Mender staff and the 3 items below it are all healing staffs. I have downloaded the TBC version from the website. Not sure what im doing wrong.
It is also telling me to use a resilience trinket over a pure damage trinket when I use the optimizer.

There is some weird stuff happening because you are not max level, and you have gear that is very low item level.
The optimizer is designed for max level characters. We put some effort into making sure it doesn’t completely fail on lower level characters, but that has never been our focus.
Really low level trinkets like the Devilsaur Eye have no calculations for their on-use effects in our database. For efficiency we do not consider “irrelevant” items. The optimizer will see static stats on really low level trinkets, but doesn’t “know” about the procs or on use effects. In this case the optimizer sees what it thinks are two zero value trinkets and puts on the higher item level one.
As for all the “caster” gear in the upgrade finder - the optimizer is centered around max level characters using the max rank of spells. The mana cost of the max rank of the spells is too high for your current gear, resulting in a severe mana-deficiency in the calculation. You could try setting the fight length to the minimum of 30 seconds while using the optimizer sub level 70. That will help some.
But really, don’t worry much about optimizing gear until you are max level. Put on the highest item level gear you have with useful stats and keep leveling! The optimizer is ready for you once you get into end game content. I know that can be a somewhat unsatisfying answer sometimes, but you really do not stay sub level 70 for very long. And, the content you do sub level 70 does not require optimized gear.
