Without any of the new gear drops, you are recommending I go from 280 ilevel to 275 ilevel and max out mastery while also losing my 4 set bonus. Everything out there says stacking mastery is not the way to go.
Can you post a snapshot for me? I need to see your build and settings to comment on the optimizer results!
Thanks for the screenshots, but it is very hard to reproduce your case from images alone. Instead, press the green “Get Support” link seen in your images next to the big “Best in Bags” section header, and copy the generated 32-digit code here. With that we can load your exact setup and reproduce the behavior on our test servers.

Thanks! Swol will take a look at it sometime today (he’s our healer person).
This is the first time I have ever questioned the results here. They are going against everything I am seeing out there about season 2.
I took at look at this. I think that the optimizer results look good in this case. I do have some leeway to “nudge” the calculations towards particular stats without making it arbitrary or artificial. I don’t think that’s necessary here.
First: Mastery is not being “maxed out”. Yes, the optimizer wants more mastery than you had, but it’s only slightly higher than your haste. The optimizer wants Haste and Mastery, which is in-line with the guides out there that I’ve seen.
It makes sense that mastery jumped a little out ahead of haste with the 12.1 changes. Blizzard specifically buffed mastery to make it a more attractive stat. I also fixed a bug with the 12.1 update that was causing our model to not handle Morning Breeze correctly, so we were actually under-valuing mastery with that talent previously.
Regarding the 4pc set bonus: in a M+ setting, it’s not that helpful, since keeping renewing mist up on 5 allies isn’t that hard even without the bonus. I tried tweaking the calculations/rotation logic to try to actively make use of that free renewing mist, but it had no significant effect. As expected, if you do a raid optimization, the set bonus is picked.
If you follow our forums, you will see that I often tweak the healing model to skew towards the “meta” because that’s what people want, generally. I think this is a case where we are out ahead of the other guide content a bit. We can very quickly update our calculation models, and the pseudo-simulation approach gives us the ability to give what I think is a more accurate value for secondary stats, especially haste. I would not be surprised if you saw the guides update in the next couple weeks to recommend roughly equal amounts of haste/mastery in the m+ build you are using.
I’ll keep an eye on it - if our suggestions diverged a LOT from the meta, I’d want to tweak it.
Thanks for the detailed reply. I have switched to the recommendation. Will try to test it out tomorrow, maybe later tonight if I get the time.
