Why in Midnight the BIS in AMR is so different them bis from other sites

Hi everyone,

I’m trying to better understand how Ask Mr. Robot is evaluating BiS gear compared to what top players and other class resources are currently recommending.

For context, my snapshot is:

78a0e7d8b3764a5db3aeaa5a8e2fd110

One thing that confused me is the weapon recommendation. Most top players and external guides seem to be using [Deceiver’s Rotbow] as the BiS weapon, but AMR is recommending a crafted weapon instead.

I’m also seeing something similar with my Great Vault options. In the vault, I have three items that are generally considered BiS or strong upgrade options, but AMR is saying that none of them are upgrades for my character.

So I wanted to ask:

Is this expected behavior based on AMR’s simulation and stat weighting, or could I be doing something wrong with my setup/import/snapshot?

I understand that AMR may evaluate gear differently from static BiS lists because it simulates my actual character, current gear, enchants, talents, and stat balance. But the difference here feels large enough that I wanted to check if I’m interpreting the result correctly.

Any explanation would be appreciated. I just want to understand whether the crafted weapon is truly better in my specific setup, or whether there might be an issue with my settings or the way I’m using the tool.

Thanks!

Hey there! Thanks for posting. The main difference I have seen between what we recommend and what other guides recommend is that our simulator and calculations show that haste isn’t very good for BM.

I spent quite a deal of time double-checking it, and I think that our recommendations pass the “sniff test” so to speak.

There is a thread where I discussed it, but I think this post is potentially the most relevant if you don’t want to read the whole thread:

Thanks for the detailed explanation — that helps a lot.

So if I understand correctly, the main reason AMR may be recommending a crafted weapon over Deceiver’s Rotbow is not because of the weapon itself, but because AMR is valuing Haste much lower for BM Hunter than most community guides or player-data-based sources.

That makes sense conceptually, especially with Bestial Wrath being a fixed cooldown now.

Could you help me confirm something specific with my current snapshot?

I’m seeing another situation that is confusing me: in the Upgrade Finder, AMR shows two crafted items as my maximum upgrades. However, when I run Best in Bags, AMR does not actually add/equip those two crafted items.

This is especially confusing because my crafted weapon also has an embellishment. So I’m trying to understand how AMR handles this interaction:

  1. If the Upgrade Finder shows two crafted items as the best upgrades, why are they not selected by Best in Bags?

  2. Is Best in Bags avoiding them because of the embellishment limit, because of the crafted weapon, or because the final optimized gear set is better without replacing the weapon?

  3. In this case, is AMR effectively saying that I should keep the crafted weapon and not use those two other crafted upgrades?

  4. Or should I manually test the two crafted items by adding them to my bags and locking/unlocking the crafted weapon to see the real optimized result?

  5. Is the Upgrade Finder ranking crafted items independently, while Best in Bags evaluates the full final gear set with embellishment limits and all gear interactions?

I’m not trying to argue with the result — I just want to understand the correct way to interpret the difference between Upgrade Finder and Best in Bags, especially when crafted items and embellishments are involved.

Thanks again for taking the time to explain it.

The crafted item rankings in the “Quick Rank” search could use a little work – it is on my current list of improvements. This post explains it a bit more and gives a temporary workaround:
