The crafted item rankings in the “Quick Rank” search could use a little work – it is on my current list of improvements. This post explains it a bit more and gives a temporary workaround:

The “Quick Rank” search does not try to find combinations of gear that remove your other crafted items to combine with the crafted item being ranked. We do have adjustments to deal with breaking/making set bonuses in the “Quick Rank” that we can extend to deal with the embellishment unique constraint – it’s on my short list of things to revisit. In the meantime you can use the “Add to my Bag” search to try a particular crafted item – in that case it will try potentially thousands of combination…
