Classic Era BiB completely broken

Used to use AMR in classic WoW (now called retail? whatever)
So, I’m familiar with the app. It used to work… I thought it worked well… now? not so much.
Imported from Addon, half of my gear is missing and the recommendations being made are completely insane.
I took a screenshot for you… but alas there is some off-the-wall screenshot ID thing going on that makes no sense whatsoever.

Sure I support people’s work… yes, I renewed my subscription to use this product again, but I’ve got to tell you, your UX requires some serious help, and of course, the application is broken.

  1. Fix the CSV generator in the addon. Clearly, it’s not working.
  2. Unsure if the BiB feature on the AMR site is broken or not since… it appears the CSV is incomplete.
  3. Straight out your support. It’s a complete mess. 1995 called and wants their message boards back.

I would need a snapshot ID of your setup to reproduce your case and see what’s going on. Instructions on how to do that are at the top of this post:

“Retail” is commonly used to refer to the current, latest version of World of Warcraft, right now that is The War Within, and shows up in the battle.net launcher under live, World of Warcraft.

“Classic Era” refers to the original (sometimes called “vanilla”) WoW, which shows up in the battle.net launcher under live - classic, World of Warcraft Classic.

Once you provide a snapshot and let me know which version of the optimizer you are using, we should be able to resolve your issue quickly.

As a follow-up, whenever a character is missing a lot of gear, it is usually an issue with the addon either being out of date or having a stale cache. Following these steps usually fixes that:

  1. Ensure that you have the latest version of our addon. You can get it directly from our website (Addon) or on curseforge. Version 5 is the latest for Classic Era, and it should show that in the text at the bottom of the in-game addon window. Please note that you should completely exist WoW to ensure that a new version of the addon actually gets loaded.

  2. Go in-game, and make sure that the AMR addon window is closed and not visible.

  3. Go to your bank and open it for 1 or 2 seconds – that’s enough time to ensure that we scan all of its contents.

  4. Open the AMR addon window and export as usual.

This will reset all cached data in the addon.

Then on the website, after optimizing, press UNLOCK ALL if it is enabled at the bottom-right of the gear table, then re-optimize. That will ensure that a lock that somehow got out of sync isn’t causing the problem.

Then you can redo your locks and settings as you see fit – everything should be in sync again.

If the above does not resolve your issue, follow the steps in my previous message to create a support snapshot ID and we can investigate further.

Straight out your support. It’s a complete mess. 1995 called and wants their message boards back.

We added the snapshot feature to make it much easier to give fast, accurate support to users. Because we can’t know for certain what settings you were using, etc., having a user create a snapshot exactly as they see things when the error happened lets us exactly reproduce your case.

If the post referenced above is too hard to follow, here’s a visual guide for how to create a snapshot:

1. Press the “help” link next to the Best in Bags section header:

A window will open.

2. Press ‘CREATE SUPPORT POST’ in the window:

3. Copy the snapshot ID that is generated:

image

This can be accomplished by clicking anywhere on it and pressing ctrl+C, or right-click and choose “Copy” from the context menu.

4. Paste the snapshot ID into your post

Make a reply here, and in your post press ctrl+V, or right-click and choose “Paste” from the context menu.

All of the recommended actions you’ve made are… well… in line with every day use and are not unique to your addon.
Additionally, if there is a scan going on when bags are opened/closed and there is a chance for that scan to be incomplete, then maybe put a hook in your code to either prevent bags from being closed until the scan is complete or… notify the user that the scan was incomplete asking them to open their bags/bank again.
Food for thought.

As for a snapshot ID, again I couldn’t image a more difficult method of getting what amounts to a literal screenshot but sure. here is an ID that visually depicts exactly what I’ve explained. 686db91149c64237b0a69bb2154b6c6b. How your site configuration would affect parsing a CSV I do not know but… stranger things I suppose.

If I were to make a guess MAYBE… there could be conflict with other addons preventing AMR from obtaining a full listing of what is in my bags/bank. I do use an add-on that prevents me from accidentally selling items in my bags. I"m able to select t hem and “Locked” in them. Disallowing any action with those items when I’m engaged with a vendor.
Truth is I haven’t gone down the rabbit hole to evaluate if there are any conflicts with other plugins because I would assume that merely reading the contents of what is in a bag should have nothing to do with secondary attributes stored/saved by other plugins.

Nevertheless, it still doesn’t work.

Thanks for the snapshot – I swear that I’m not being difficult. Snapshots contain a lot more information than a screenshot can convey, such as diagnostic information for debugging.

In this case, I was able to use your snapshot to recreate and run your last export from the addon to the website, and I think that I see the issue.

The slots that are blank on your character are all items that were added in Season of Discovery phases. Our Classic Era optimizer does not support Season of Discovery.

If you renewed and upgraded specifically to use the site for Season of Discovery, please contact us via email (use the “hamburger” menu button at the top-right of any page on the main site → support → account and billing section), and describe your situation – somebody will help you usually within 24 hours on business days, and we’ll issue a refund.

(Also note that the purchase screens clearly indicate that we do not support Season of Discovery.)

Definitely a subjective term… “Clearly”. Right up there with “User Friendly”.

I believe you when you say you’re not being “Difficult”… however, I would say there is more than an insignificant amount of condescension in your reply. Was it important to say how “Clearly”, you feel, it is indicated on the purchase screens? What value do you see in saying that other than to cause disdain? Now I’m sure, we cannot be friends.

Fact is, had I known… we wouldn’t be here, now would we? So how “Clear” is it really?

Tell you what. You keep the annual fee. I find more value in avoiding any further discussions.
What should be “Clear” is, I for one, won’t be giving AMR another chance.
