I’m prepping a shopping list before I start spending rerolls, and I was curious about how the Best in Slot system handles the changes to catalyst charges this season. Since secondary stats now stay with the gear when being catalyzed, it makes those pieces a bit more complicated. However, a comparison of my BiS list with the default tier pieces seems to indicate that BiS is not trying to do that at all. Is that accurate, or are the default stats the actual ideal? If BiS doesn’t take the new system into account, is there another tool that does?
This is on my short list to visit… right now Best in Slot is just using the base set items.
If you use the Upgrade Finder’s Catalyst search, it will convert any items that you own and rank them with the overridden stats. Similarly if you do the Great Vault search with the Catalyst option, it will show you the new version with the overridden stats ranked.
We want to add a mode to Best in Slot that can examine other variations of set items with different stats, but it is easier said than done. You go from having one set item option to hundreds in each slot, which turns into a big performance issue. We’re giving it some thought.

I’ve been playing around with a few ideas for this, almost have something that will run fast enough. We need to test some UI tweaks to make it clear which item was converted still.
That said: I think people are going to be disappointed by how little this actually matters. The absolute best gain over using the default set items that I’ve seen in my test cases is 1.5%. This is total gain were you to use the best possible conversion source for all 4 of your set items.
Most are smaller than that though: the range is anywhere from 0.5-1.5% depending on spec and build. Some specs have better default stats on their set items.
This result is not unexpected. There is plenty of room on non-set slots to flex your stats around whatever might be on the default set items, so the there is not much room for optimization to being with.
