This problem started yesterday morning. I successfully used the optimizer Tuesday night. But ever since Wednesday morning, I keep getting “The optimization took too long to complete”. I do have 2 specs with 2 setups each and a bunch of gear in my bank. I guess I could try to trim it down, though I have been using “Worst In Bags” in an attempt to keep it under control.

Quick follow up: On a whim, I checked Curseforge and noticed that there was an update for the addon. But updating did not solve the problem.

Could you give me a snapshot with all of your settings, instructions on how to do that below. There must be a combination of settings/gear that you have causing the optimizer to take longer than usual to complete. Also, were you using Best in Bags or Best in Slot?

Oh sorry, I forgot about the snapshot. I mistook that for the ticket number. Anyway, my snapshot is:

And I just tried it again to confirm I’m still getting the same result.

I also gave it some more thought. The only thing I can think of that changed on Tuesday night is that I got the Reactive Defense Matrix from normal raid. Other than that, I can’t think of any changes.

Thanks, I think that I figured it out. I’ll try to post an update later tonight or tomorrow morning.

This was a really tough one, took me all night to track it down. Without getting into the technical details, it only happened with a very particular combination of available items – I wouldn’t be surprised if you’re the only person who has (or ever will) encounter this exact bug. Sorry for the trouble!

I posted an update that should resolve this issue. It’s still on the slower side for optimizations, but it should complete successfully every time now.

I just tried it and everything works fine now. I’m SUPER curious to know what combination of items foiled the optimizer.

I also reduced my “Worst In Bags” item level cutoff to 25 in order to cut down on some of the clutter. That seems like a pretty reasonable cutoff, considering that each raid tier is now 26 item levels. Didn’t get rid of a lot of stuff, but every little bit helps, I guess.
